Lorenzo is a Senior Manager in the Spacecraft Operations Centre of Avanti Communications, responsible for Flight Dynamics, Space Situational Awareness, and Space Traffic Management.<\/p>\n
When he joined the company in 2014, operations were subcontracted. Lorenzo brought them in house by setting up the Avanti Spacecraft Operation Centre and designing the operational processes and procedures in line with the industry best practises.<\/p>\n
In his role, Lorenzo coordinates the planning and execution of operations, provides support to spacecraft LEOP and IOT phases, and performs operational risk assessment and mitigation.<\/p>\n
Before joining Avanti, Lorenzo was a Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer at the European Space Agency, supporting missions as Venus Express, GAIA, and Rosetta. In particular, he was instrumental in performing the Venus Express solar arrays rotation experiments to measure the atmospheric density of planet Venus.<\/p>\n
Lorenzo holds a double degree in Aerospace Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and Cranfield University, and a Master in Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.<\/p>\n
He is a firm believer in the SDA mission to increase spacecraft safety by improving operational data sharing and coordinating operations through effective communications among spacecraft owner\/operators.<\/p>\n
