Space Safety Portal
The Space Safety Portal is a next generation safety of flight system to support today’s mission critical space operations.
What is the Space Safety Portal?
The Space Safety Portal (SSP) ingests flight dynamics information from the member companies, as well as other available sources of space object information, to provide conjunction assessment and warning services.
The SSP leverages sixteen years of operational experience and takes advantage of new and emerging technologies, space situational awareness (SSA) data, and concepts for STC to effectively meet new challenges posed by the rapid increase in satellites in orbit and scheduled for launch.
Who operates the SSP?
GMV operates the SSP and has become one of the leading European and worldwide players in space safety, covering space surveillance and tracking, space traffic management, space weather and debris.
GMV operates the Ecosstm® software solution and Focusoc operations centre.
What does the next generation SSP flight safety system offer?
SSP utilizes the FOCUS suite software technology from GMV. The SSP also offers:
- Improved screen and CA detection
GMV has innovated a technique that will extend the SP timeframe to provide a longer screening window.
The new system will also generate synthetic covariance on Owner/Operator ephemeris and SP data to enable PoC, in addition to several other methods, including maximum probability.
- Data partners to improve data latency and data gap
Additional data is included in screening and the SSP works with other data partners to further improve its SSA capabilities and to reduce gaps in data.
- Advanced cybersecurity and data security functionality
To enhance data security, GMV has developed a new web portal and backend API to ensure security of SDA member data.
